Interpreter Coordinator (8/15/2014)

The Academy of Languages Translation & Interpretation Services is looking for a motivated Interpreter Coordinator to join our staff in the heart of Pioneer Square. This full-time position requires the ideal candidate to be detail oriented, organized and customer-service focused. You are passionate about the translation and interpretation industry and are familiar with the healthcare and legal fields. You will manage our internal scheduling team as well as our external resources to ensure high-quality services are rendered on a daily basis, with an eye towards maintaining and further developing long term relationships with our clients and freelance interpreters.

Main Duties
•Point of contact for both clients and interpreters for all interpreting assignments
•Supervise Assistant Coordinators to ensure proper scheduling of all interpreter assignments
•Issue contractor work orders, client confirmations, quotes, contracts, and invoices
•Negotiate rates with clients and interpreters
•Recruit, train and coordinate freelancers, including medical, legal and conference interpreters
•Supervise interpreters to ensure proper adherence to ethical and professional standards
•Develop and maintain relationships with potential, new and existing clients
•Maintain interpreter lists and files
•Organize and develop training programs/workshops
•Provide reports to clients as needed
•Share after-hours pager duty
•Report to General Manager

(as needed and based on candidate’s interest)
•Assist in project management of multimedia projects, voice-overs, narrations, etc.

• Assist with researching potential clients, following-up with current and new contacts,
•Visit and meet clients as needed
•Attend networking and educational events

•Handle phones
•Database maintenance and other administrative duties as needed
•Assist Translation Project Managers, Bookkeeper and General Manager as needed

Job requirements
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Translation/Interpretation or related Industry
•Ability to multitask, stay focused and work efficiently under pressure
•Acute attention to detail
•Excellent customer service skills
•Excellent facilitation and problem-solving skills
•Superior written and oral communication skills in English
•Negotiation skills
•Ability to lead a small team
•Ability to improvise, research and solve issues
•Ability to work well with clients, contractors and colleagues of diverse backgrounds
•Experience with appointment scheduling desired
•Experience with the health care and legal fields desired
•Native-level fluency in a second language a plus
•Knowledge or interest in languages and cultures of the world

•BA or higher
•Formal training and proficiency in at least one foreign language
•Formal training in T&I a plus

Computer Skills:
•Proficiency in MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)
•Knowledge of other software programs a plus (EPIC, Web, DTP, Database, etc.)

•Starting salary: 32 – 34K DOE
•Office hours: 9am-5pm Mon.-Fri.
•10 vacation days, 5 sick days, and 10 paid holidays per year
